Sometimes, when you watch some marketers talk about funnels and generating leads, they are in reality teaching people to be invasive in the name of marketing.

You’ll drop your email address somewhere, next thing you know, a company whose marketing is handled by a psycho is chasing you down on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and on WhatsApp.

You’ll buy something and enter your details, and next thing you know, you are getting 5 emails daily from a company that does not understand boundaries.

You'll comment on someone's post, before you know, you have become a lead they need to stalk to death in the DM because some unstable person taught them "how to convert leads from your comment section."

There is a difference between trying to sell to people and just being annoying.

You cannot possibly be trying to sell to me while sending me 5 emails daily. Are you normal?

I’ve built a few customer journey automations and allowing time between the emails is important. That’s why most automation platforms allow you to specify how long you’d like to wait before the next email.

The fastest way to get people to unsubscribe from your email list is to send multiple mails per day.

It’s one of my grouses with Shaw Academy. How can you be trying to teach people Digital Marketing when your crazy ass chases people down with at least 3 emails per day, sends text messages, WhatsApp and other invasive forms of stalking people? What do you want to teach me then?

Russell Brunson’s Clickfunnels is another company that does not understand boundaries. For a company that built a revolutionary funnel tool, the most expensive in the market, they don’t have a firm grasp of how many mails people should get in a day before they opt out of the nonsense.

That you’re trying to onboard people on your platform is not an excuse for sending more than 5 mails a day. If anything, it shows that they don’t have a deep understanding of who their audience is. Anyone that can afford to pay the kind of money that Clickfunnels charges yearly has no time to sit around reading more than 5 emails a day.

It’s okay to sign people up to your list and try to sell to them, but can you not send them too many mails a day? 1 mail a day is enough. If you really must do more than 1 a day, make it just 2. What do you have to say that can’t wait till the next day?

Don’t chase people down different platforms in the name of selling. Whatever contact they give you is what you should try to reach them with. Don’t find backdoors to get their other details and start trying to sell to them on platforms they haven’t given you access to. It doesn’t make you smart. It makes you a stalker.

People are scared of giving out their email addresses because some psychos will even attempt to use it to get their house address and sell to them there if they are not careful. In trying to sell to people, don't be invasive. Don't be a stalker.
